Private Release Party?
« on: April 30, 2013, 02:49:42 PM »

Eddie Trunk posted this on his Web site yesterday.  I would love to hear the details of this show!

Tape more new shows tomorrow and Wednesday here in LA. Then hit the Golden Gods awards Thursday night. Then way too early Friday I fly direct to Baltimore to host M3 Friday night and Saturday. Hope to see you and hang at M3 if going and congrats to my ticket winners. Also going to catch a few more shows here in LA before going back East, including Cheap Trick at the El Ray tomorrow, a private Queensryche (Tate-less version) release party show Wed, and Jason Newsted at The Roxy Wed. So MUCH going on. Be sure to keep an eye on Twitter and more info here when I have time. Thanks!

They have these now instead of giving out promo copies so albums don't leak. I'm so jealous of those who get to attend!

Slightly OT, but when I stopped by Ed's site they also explained that the reason only Todd & Scott are on is that they can only have 2 members on the set. Personally I'd rather they had 2 of the hosts leave for a bit & get some other guys out there, but there you go.

I remember we had one with Ancient Rites when 'Rubicon' was all done and mastered. Seasons Of Mist, our record company, invited the press to the recording studio for a private listening session and a goodie bag with promo material (a cool specially designed album bio which I wrote, actually. The text is still on SOM's site), after which they wrote up the album three months in advance of its actual release. It's a really good promo tool, and it minimizes album leaks.

As some of you may know, we're in LA right now doing some press, and tonight the label put together an invite only listening party and performance at the Viper Room. There are no tickets available to the public, but when we go on at 8:00 tonight, if any of the guests haven’t showed up and there is room in the club, they will allow people in. It will be a first come first serve basis and there is no guarantee anyone will make it. If you live in the area and want to risk heading down there for a chance to get a glimpse of us in a very intimate club, head on down!!

That would be so cool!  Too bad I live in Wisconsin. (sigh)  Oh well.  I'll console myself knowing I have front row center tickets to the McHenry show 7/13.  If anyone gets in, have fun!

If anyone here manages to get in to this gig, let us know the details!

I'd love to go, but alas, I'm in Austin. No trip to LA for me.

Oh man, we need a "mole" on the inside. So I would have to assume they would be performing one (or more) of the new songs live, correct?

Wished I lived near LA.

It'd be cool just to wait in the line-up for a chance to see the guys.

Hope a BDR member gets in, so we can hear all of the details.

God....I would go if I KNEW I would get in.  I'm only 30-45 minutes (ok....a hour or so in traffic) away from that part of LA...

I'm confident there will be people there by the time I would arrive I'd have little to no chance in hell of getting in.

The editor for the site I write for will be in attendance. The three articles I wrote that involved QR all did pretty well for them from what I understand, and we have a good relationship with Century Media, so I'm not surprised that we were sent an invite. I would have loved to have gone myself, but the Viper Room is 21+ and my boss hasn't gotten to see the new lineup yet. It should be a lot of fun!

Yeah, Queensryche isn't the biggest band ever so I doubt there'll be THAT many people.

If I didn't live on the complete opposite side of the country and were within driving distance, I'd definitely go. But I understand where Taz is coming from. :) However, TauSigmaNova brings up a good point. I don't think there would be that many people there.
